Definitions:
Customer/Client: Any person or party who is dealing with Crixus Studios, including making enquiries, pencils and bookings.
Crixus Studios (Shortened to Studios): The studios run by Crixus Productions Ltd at Unit 11, Dockyard Industrial Estate. Or any agent or employee working for Crixus Productions Ltd.
Enquiry: A contact between the Studios and Client where no pencil or booking is made but questions or details shared.
Pencil: An informal calendar note to show the interest of a client to book a set date in the studios.
Heavy Pencil: A formal note in the Studio calendar to show keen interest in a particular date from the client.
Booking: When an invoiced has been paid and a date is confirmed by both the Client and the Studio.

10a) All productions should hold as a bare minimum £2million in public liability insurance. And have all their equipment fully insured.
Terms and Condtions
- Bookings
- Pencils do not guarantee a booking or a reserved studio day, they are an informal way to show interest in booking a specific day. Crixus Studios will attempt to contact for 1 business day, to give first right of refusal, to the recipient of a Pencilled date if another enquiry is looking to book on that date.
- Heavy Pencils are when the client has expressed a wish to confirm and an invoice has been sent.
- Crixus Studios only confirm a booking once the payment is received in full.
- Once confirmed we will not offer the dates to any other client.
- Payments
- We do not accept payment for an entire booking on the day, All bookings must be confirmed and fully paid before the booking date.
- Invoices are sent via Xero Accounting Software; Payments can be made by bank transfer or via card payments using stripe.
- Additional equipment hire and services can be payable either by invoice before the day or card payment on the day or via our online system. We do not allow payments after a booking.
- We offer a full refund on any booking if the studio must close legally due to covid-19 government restrictions.
- Overtime is charged at £60 per hour for the first two hours and then £80 per hour after that. Equipment rental, additional studios and any other invoice addition are charged at 10% of invoiced price for each hour of overtime.
- Overtime is added after the client has overstayed by 20 minutes, by agreeing to our terms you consent to this charge.
- Cancellations are charged at different rates depending on the amount of notice the studios receive from the client.
- Cancelled and or rescheduled bookings are charged at 100% of the invoice amount if notice is given within 48hours of the booking start time.
- Cancelled bookings are charged at 50% of the invoice amount if notice is given between 48hours and 5 days of the booking start time.
- Rescheduled bookings are charge at 25% of the total invoice amount if notice is given between 48hours and 5 days of the booking start time.
- Any booking wishing to cancel with more than 5 days’ notice will be charged a cancellation admin fee of 5% of their total booking.
- Any booking wishing to reschedule with more than 7 days’ notice can do so free of charge but may only do so once.
- Travel & Access
- Currently there are no parking restrictions on site. On any given day there is likely over 10 spare car parking spots.
- Client parking in the main bay in front of the roller doors to empress ltd is not permitted.
- Parking your vehicle on site is at your own risk, there are no security in place in the car park. All equipment must be removed from the clients vehicles and brought up to the studios.
- The studios are not responsible for any delay caused by traffic or public transport issues and can not add free overtime as a result of this.
- The studios feature double width corridors and double doors throughout and a large service lift.
- Crixus Studios are not responsible for any issues regarding the service lift not working. It is an old lift and whilst it has never been out of use during a production before. However should the lift fail to work during our production we are not responsible for any charges of your booking may face as a consequence and advise people to create a backup plan should the lift be out of order.
- We charge a set overnight fee of £50 for any studio props or equipment dropped off or picked up outside of your production times.
- The studios normal working times are 9-6am Monday to Friday. Pickup/drop-off of equipment must happen during these times or an additional charge may apply.
- Our booking times are inclusive or setup and pack down time. Clients are given access into the studios at the exact time booked and are asked to be fully packed down at the end of their booking time and out of the building no later than 15 minutes after the booking time has finished.
- Props & Furniture
- Crixus Studios are a dry hire studio and have an extremely limited amount of props and furniture.
- Crixus Studios endeavour to keep the website photos as close to reality as possible, however it is not guarantied that a particular item shown on the website may be available on the day of a booking.
- Lighting & Equipment
- Crixus Studios allows the client to hire or bring into the studio an external lighting and video equipment.
- Replacement or additional filming equipment will not always be available at the studios. The storage at the studio is extremely limited and therefore we keep a low stock of rentable and consumable items.
- Kitchen Facilities & Catering
- Each studio is equipment with a small tea and coffee station
- Bookings do not come with kitchen facilities other than a basic tea/coffee station in each studio.
- The kitchen studio is only available as a booked studio and can not be used for free as a kitchen space for a production.
- Studios
- Jumping on the curved edges of the cyclorama is not permitted and any damages caused will be liable to the client.
- Airconditioning is provided in the White and Green studio but not in the Kitchen Studio. Kitchen Studio bookings are advised to plan accordingly during the summer especially during heat waves as the studio can get very hot.
- Crixus Studios do not supply technical support or labour as standard, the studio hire is a dry location hire only unless agreed otherwise.
- Sound
- Crixus Studios do not allow, under any circumstances, percussion instruments on site.
- The studios are not a sound stage or even come close to that level of sound proofing.
- Crixus Studios do not guarantee that outdoor sounds will not permeate into the studios. Mild road noise and heavy/loud noises will likely permeate through the warehouse windows and double doors but will be at a low level.
- A reasonable level of soundproofing materials has been built into each studio. With each door having extra seals and weight added and every wall having had extra mass loaded vinyl and plasterboard installed.
- Whilst the studios have are considered reasonably quiet, we suggest each production to do their own evaluations before booking the studio.
- The studios do not book music video shoots at the same time as productions looking to record sound.
- Corridors
- No equipment should be stored or left in the corridor spaces as it is a fire hazard.
- No loitering or setting up in the corridors at any time.
- Insurance
- All productions should hold as a bare minimum £2million in public liability insurance. And have all their equipment fully insured.
- Crixus Studios are not responsible for any damages or theft that occur to a client’s equipment whilst on site especially if left overnight.
- We permit storage overnight but only at the clients’ own risk.
- Exclusions
- Client parking in the main bay in front of the roller doors to empress ltd is not permitted,
- Location Releases
- We are not liable to abide by any brand/client exclusivity conditions in a client’s location release form. If we are required to sign such form for a booking to go ahead it is done so knowing that such conditions are invalid.
- Any overly complicated or unusual location release forms may be subject to a solicitor check that will be charged at £500 per document, notice of this fee will be given in advance.

7. Your Contributions do not ridicule, mock, disparage, intimidate, or abuse anyone.
8. Your Contributions are not used to harass or threaten (in the legal sense of those terms) any other person and to promote violence against a specific person or class of people.
9. Your Contributions do not violate any applicable law, regulation, or rule.
10. Your Contributions do not violate the privacy or publicity rights of any third party.
11. Your Contributions do not contain any material that solicits personal information from anyone under the age of 18 or exploits people under the age of 18 in a sexual or violent manner.
12. Your Contributions do not violate any applicable law concerning child pornography, or otherwise intended to protect the health or well-being of minors.
13. Your Contributions do not include any offensive comments that are connected to race, national origin, gender, sexual preference, or physical handicap.
14. Your Contributions do not otherwise violate, or link to material that violates, any provision of these Terms of Use, or any applicable law or regulation.
